Walking the wide beaches daily, on the Sunshine Coast of Australia, I am fascinated with every step. The terrain, the patterns, the never ending textural varieties, keep my eyes riveted. The swiftly moving cloud forms above, vie for my attention. Yet today it is the sand under my bare feet, that keeps calling to my heart.
The wind and the waves are the master sculptor’s tools today. Or was it in the dark of night, before my early morning arrival, that all this beauty and intricacy was created? These never ending arrangements of pattern and scale. These designs that can only inspire the human heart, never to be truly replicated by the human hand.
I find it difficult, determining where to step, as I focus my lens. The other beach walkers, and their dogs are oblivious to the grand artworks they smudge and obliterate. I understand how easy it is to be focused elsewhere, while walking upon this magical sand.
I open my heart wider trying to hold it all in my mind’s eye. I keep releasing the shutter, so I might share it with you, so I might savor it all, a few moments longer. These beach maps, these shifting sands, that unite me with the oneness of creation. That unite me with my Creator.
To wide open lenses, and wide open hearts.
